For a VERY cool idea of how the SWG will look and play, please click the following link and press the image to start a flash tour.

Getting Around
In addition to the radar, galactic inhabitants have several tools to help them navigate the various worlds.
Waypoints
Players can create “waypoints” (map coordinates in their datapad) to assist them in finding or remembering locations. When activated the waypoint shows up on the radar, as an arrow on the HUD and, when you are close enough, as a large column of light in the sky pointing to the exact location that only you can see. Waypoints you create can be game mailed to other players for coordinating meeting places. Additionally, certain game systems will automatically create waypoints for you, such as the missions system and the surveying system. To find important locations like the local bank, simply type /find and select it from a pop-up list to create a waypoint directly to it.
Planetary Map
This map shows a high level view of the planet’s map. The right hand side contains a directory of important locations that you can look up. Certain player run locations (and eventually player cities) will be added to this directory. Players can also create their own waypoints by clicking directly on the map.
Overhead Map
To aid in navigating large cities, this map displays an overhead view of building shapes. Names of prominent locations such as the local cantina show up here as well.
